Wonder Woman vs. the Patriarchy

Happy Saturday, friends!
Here's a Wonder Woman I had in my sketchbook for a while. I actually painted it with gouache but am a dummy and forgot to scan it before shipping if off to a show. So here's a digitally colored version for your viewing pleasure!

(Also, damn you Casey for taking Blue and Gold!! lol)

They gotta have a place to store all their stuff!

For my Ghostbuster piece, I decided to illustrate the Ghostbuster headquarters. This is the result!

I like vectorizing buildings, so this was pretty fun to do. Expect another famous building/house in the near future!

Sunday Catch-up: Kaiju

Few weeks ago, we had a kaiju challenge that I was really excited for. I'd been playing around with Godzilla ideas for awhile and thought the challenge was perfect. Too bad I took on more than I could and didn't finish on time. But you are in luck! I finished the illustration and it came out better than the original idea.

Here's the version without the gradient on the buildings.

Taking the extra time to flesh this out really made a difference. I'm trying to find a style of my own and this is one piece that really shows how far I'm coming along in terms of digital art. I'm nowhere near where I'd like to be, but I'm getting there, so I'm pretty satisfied with that!

Shawny. With a Y.

Here's my self portrait for this weeks challenge!
I really like purple.
My sister saw this and told me to make the boobs bigger...Nope. I don't want my boobs taking up the whole illustration!

Best Part of the Movie!

Before I saw Guardians of the Galaxy wednesday, I was going to draw a full team action illustration, but then I saw the movie and fell in love with:

The whole movie was great and all, but you can't beat a baby tree dancing to Jackson 5. Nope. No way.

Be prepared for some more GOTG fan art coming soon!

Peach Baby! (Last Week's Challenge)

Playing catch up. This is for last week's Mario challenge. I HAD to draw Princess Peach in a pin-up, because that is what I do! Anyway here's Peach in all her glory!

They're coming for you, Peach!

There is plenty of art out there of zombie Super Mario Bros, but I was surprised to find so little of the characters actually surviving. C'mon guys, you don't think the guy who could defeat Bowser could survive an outbreak of zombie koopa troopas? If that little brat, Carl Grimes, can make it through the zombie apocalypse, Mario can do it and  kick serious koopa shell in the process. *Mic drop*

Original art is drawn with Micron pens on brown toned paper, and colored in Photoshop. The text was made in Illustrator. Everything was assembled in InDesign.

BONUS!
I was fiddling with layers and kind of liked the look of the original drawing with just the blood and grit layer.

Ok for real this time, XO – Clare

Logo Challenge: The last one is hopefully a good one!

Hello! After seeing everyone's great logos, I decided to scrap my first idea and come up with a better one!
I really like making logos. I also really like using circles in my logos, so of course when it came to the challenge I went with my usual signatures!

I'm also really big on adding textures. I think it really adds to the logo without being overbearing.  One of my favorite places to get textures from is Lost And Taken. They have every texture you can think of AND it's free!

Oh I'm Shawny and I am really excited to be apart of this group! If you want to check out some of my work,  click here!

A NEW CHALLENGER HAS APPEARED i mean logo

So many great logos! Looks like you guys are gonna keep me on my toes.

Anyway, for a introductory my logo is true to the blog in that I scribbled it out in 15 minutes at work and telling of me as an artist.

Meaning there's tentacles in it?

Of course there are.

or i guess there's just the one, really

then OF COURSE I looked at what everyone else was up to and had to do a slap dash rendering in Sai which gets you this nonsense

Logo Challenge! Player Clare, Fight!

Alrighty, here goes! Like I said yesterday, this is the new and improved Scribble Nerds. I love everyone else's logos so far. They are all such unique versions. Imagine what will happen when we start pumping out art? Woah-ho-ho! Here is my crack at a logo design. Wha-bam!

Here are some other color scheme I fiddled around with for a hot second:

The Tarantino Challenge - Mrs. Mia Wallace

Hello and welcome to Scribble Nerds! I'm so excited to start doing these drawing challenges. I love Quentin Tarantino movies. They always have such a quirky and dark sense of humor, and his characters have that same air about them. Mia Wallace may be one of my favorites. It's hard to choose, but I could watch the Jack Rabbit Slims scene over and over and not get sick of it. My scribble was a sketch then drawn over in illustrator.

Tarantino Challenge - Miss Jackie Brown

Our first Scribble Nerd Drawing Challenge! YAY! The theme was "Draw a Tarantio Character", and I chose the bad ass Miss Jackie Brown.  Drawing a gun for the first time was a great experience and part of the reason I choose this character.  This piece was sketched and then redrawn in Illustrator.
