Bacon Challenge - Adventure Time Bacon Princess

This Saturday is International Bacon Day. Dee and I are celebrating with bacon art! I have been on a huge Adventure Time kick lately, and I especially love the weird princesses. Hot Dog Princess? Embryo Princess? It's hilarious! Now, I know there is Breakfast Princess with a bacon crown, but I wanted a dedicated Bacon Princess. Here she is!

Bacon Challenge - Bacon Buddies

BACON!  It’s delicious It’s scrumptious! It’s...ART!

I recently discovered the joys of making my own stamps, and when this weeks theme of bacon was chosen, I knew immediately that I wanted to make a bacon stamp.  I made one stamp for the base color of the bacon, and a second stamp for the signature squiggles on a strip of bacon.  I’ve had lots of fun adding in the little faces and making my bacon buddies interact with each other.  I made a whole bunch but these are my favorites, so enjoy!

(Here’s a couple shots of my stamp making process.  It’s super fun and easy and you can find all the supplies necessary for making them at your local arts and craft stores!)

Kitty Frog Kaiju Thing

*pant pant pant* I have been so busy these last few weeks! I'm sorry it's taken me so long to post my part of our second challenge. My kitty-kaiju creation is terrifying according to my boyfriend, Tyler. It's another one of those drawings I start with the intent to be cute, and it turns creepy. It's a weird phenomenon that I'm sure will happen again over the course of this blog.

Monster Challenge - Final Fantasy Kaiju

Or challenge this week was to draw Japanese Kaiju!  I love Godzilla and Mothra a whole bunch, but I'm not that into the giant monster scene. I've been a Final Fantasy fan for a long time, so I decided to draw some of my favorite recurring monsters, the Cactuar, Tonberry, Flan and Ahirman.

My computer is sort of dead at the moment, so I did this the old school way. Used watercolor, prisma color markers and pens of various colors (think there may even be a touch of colored pencil).  I haven't done a finished piece by hand in about 2 years, so it was definitely a challenge. Also, I remembered how much fun it is to get my hands dirty!

The Tarantino Challenge - Mrs. Mia Wallace

Hello and welcome to Scribble Nerds! I'm so excited to start doing these drawing challenges. I love Quentin Tarantino movies. They always have such a quirky and dark sense of humor, and his characters have that same air about them. Mia Wallace may be one of my favorites. It's hard to choose, but I could watch the Jack Rabbit Slims scene over and over and not get sick of it. My scribble was a sketch then drawn over in illustrator.

Tarantino Challenge - Miss Jackie Brown

Our first Scribble Nerd Drawing Challenge! YAY! The theme was "Draw a Tarantio Character", and I chose the bad ass Miss Jackie Brown.  Drawing a gun for the first time was a great experience and part of the reason I choose this character.  This piece was sketched and then redrawn in Illustrator.
