Happy Galentine's Day from Kara and Babs!

This one goes out to all my gal-pal super-buddies! Kara and Babs are definitely besties in my head. I have a feeling Valentine's day might be one of Kara's favorite holidays. Acutally, every holiday might be Kara's favorite. I can definitely see her and Babs having a Galentine's Day party.

Have a great Galentine's Day, ladies!

Also, Streaky because caaaaaaaaaaats.

Weekly Challenge: The Hobbit

Time to start drawing some tricky hobbitses and smelly dwarves for the final installment of The Hobbit out December 17th. Let's go on an adventure.

Good morning!

Fifth Element: Work In progress + Sketches.

Hey there! Just a little late sunday night post from Shawny!

Since this week's challenge was The Fifth Element, I was inspired to do a big illustration for it.

So instead of having a finished piece, here is some of the sketches I've done. I'll eventually do a line drawing and then finish the rest in Illustrator. I've also included some sketches of other fifth element work that I'm currently working on as well!

This is my usual process when working on projects. Bunch of random sketches, then the rough, rough draft, where I make dumb notes! This usually works for me!

Leeloo will be the next lady in my sweethearts project!

And finally I really love the Flight Stewardess' outfits in the movie, so here's a couple of sketches of them too!

Frankenstein's Monster

Frankie's monster seems a little bored with this mundane life of grunting and being misunderstood. It's not a phase. This is who he is, mom.

XO – Clare

White Zombie

The original movie zombie was not a gory, terrifying, undead monster. It was a woman under the power of Bela Lugosi's voodoo spell. I wanted to make a disgusting monster, but this came out instead. I must have used all my gore chips on something else. I rather prefer this anyway.

They gotta have a place to store all their stuff!

For my Ghostbuster piece, I decided to illustrate the Ghostbuster headquarters. This is the result!

I like vectorizing buildings, so this was pretty fun to do. Expect another famous building/house in the near future!

Ghost Bustin' Inktober

The month of October is certainly a busy one. Halloween art abounds, and you have every excuse to knock out some fan art. Inktober has been keeping me on my toes. An ink drawing a day can be daunting, but I've been giving myself mini challenges. This week was Ghostbusters Inktober with a trading card triptych.

American Hero, American Princess

So for this Challenge I choosed to combine America's favorite superhero with America's Princess!
So here is Tiana (The Princess and the Frog)  dressed as Captain America!

She tempts her enemies with delicious bake goods before knocking them out! It works pretty well!

Fan Friday!

Hey everyone! Every week we invite our fans and friends to participate in the drawing challenges we do. I have been neglectful the last couple weeks, so I'm doing some catch up here. If you want to submit your art, send it to scribblenerdsart@gmail.com with any information you care to add. If you have sent art and it hasn't popped up yet, let us know on our Facebook page, so we can iron out any issues.

Here are 2 from Danny Limor! He did the Batman and Guardians of the Galaxy challenges with a funny Batman playing the drums and a great, disgruntled Groot!

And Tim Switalski did the Kaiju challenge with the nightmare inducing cute Godzilla!

Keep 'em coming guys! These are great!

Gunnm.

The first manga I ever read was "Battle Angel Alita" (Gunnm).  I was still pretty into western superhero comics when I was 15/16 but that all changed when I started hanging out at the library. Around that time Manga was just really starting to pop up more in the US and the library that I frequent had  a pretty good collection. Since I was already into Cowboy Bebop and Akira animes, I went hunting for  mangas and I wasn't let down.

Battle Angel  was full of sci-fi, violence and chaos, all lead by a sweet faced cyborg. It was glorious.

So here are a few sketches of Alita. I'm going to put these through illustrator but couldn't in time for this challenge! In time though!

Don't lose your way...to Japan!!!

Moshi-Moshi Internet!!!!

Japanese Anime has always been a huge influence in my art. I was deep into Manga and Anime long before it became a mainstream pop culture thing that it is today. When this weeks challenge of Japan came along there was nothing else I could think of then just share some recent anime fan art from my newest favorite show "Kill la Kill" and even a photo of me way back in 1997 when I served oversea's in Okinawa Japan!

Enjoy!

Great time overseas! Okinawa was a blast!

Hank's got a thing about Bats...

Hello, my name is Henry Pope III and I have a confession to make.

I am addict.

For years I have sketched, fascinated and imagined a life, being, as and with...

The Batman.

He pop's up twice in my skecthbook.

I drew Bat's spitting in an alley.

I made little Batman trading cards!

I created a massive 33in. x 17in Batman Mural!!!

I have such an addiction that this morning, this happened!

Now even Pink & Nanook are getting in on it!!!

I am Henry Pope III and I am a Batman Addict.

Help.

Happy Anniversary Batman!

Fighting crime has never been so DILLish!

This one goes out to my Sister Candice!

When we were a lot younger, I used to actually play with my Sister and her dolls and stuff. We'd actually mix em up....so we'd have these playdates of Barbies, G.I.Joe, Care Bears, Jem, Transformers ,TMNT (of course!) etc. One of our favorite dolls was this stuffed toy of a Super Pickle. Our Dad brought it home one day from one of his weekend DJ shows I think.

Anyway, ol' SP was a the man! He was always getting tossed across the house (fly!), and used as an impromptu prop to beat the other sibling with! He had a goofy face, flappy, skinny arms and legs, a cape and the SP logo on his chest and Chuck Taylors on his feet. So he may of been related to Super Host. Thats an Old Cleveland personality from way back in the day. Yeah I am old.

Just wanted to share that little story. Love ya Sissy!

When asked to submit drawing challenges to the group, my brain went dead after the first few suggestions so I just wrote the most oddest thing I could think of. Bam, Pickles. So blame me for probably the most exciting selection yet!

2 hours, Manga Studio 5 EX, Cintiq.

The Real World: Super Mario Brothers Edition. NSFW

the true story of two brothers, picked to live in a sewer pipe, working together to rescue a princess, to have their lives controlled by children all over the world,  Now we find out what happens when they turn the game off... and start getting real.

Mario and Lugi get 1Up...

I am gonna get my hand slapped for this one. Oh well. I don't do cheesecake, mildly NSFW art very often, but its is fun to do.

3 hours Manga Studio 5, (new software, still learning) Cintiq.

the Princess and the Plumber

Never done any Mario stuff before, but is there a less unsung couple than Luigi and Daisy? Yoshi and Birdo maybe, but I'm not touchin that crazy mess.
So here is their love legitimized in the style of a trashy romance novel cover.

Hi! I'm Ashley. Ms. Ribblett if yer nasty.

the damn artist herself

So! Let's keep this short and sweet and so we can get to the weird pictures I draw.

I'm Ashley, a 29yr old illustrator living in Lakewood. I sling coffee by day and do my dirty drawings at night.
I've done lots of different kinds of illustrations over the years (most recently illustrating my first ever comic for Graham Cracker Comics in Chicago!)  but as of late I've found a comfortable niche drawing pinups.

If I'm drawing traditionally my weapons of choice are pencil, ink, marker or watercolor. I don't do much vector work so most of my digital illustration is done by way of tablet in my favorite program Paint Tool Sai and edited in Photoshop.

I also co-run the Cleveland Chapter of Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School, an alternative style (think cabaret) life drawing group that meets once a month. If you're in the Cleveland area and are in the need to draw some curvy swervy dames, look us up!

Hey citizens! I know I've been quiet on the challenge fronts but I found a gem for you all drawn back in my Arabica days circa 2007. I drew a lotttttttttta weird stuff back then.

I wish I had any inkling why I drew this.

Well.

Enjoy!

Say No to Drugs! Say Yes to Pizza!

A quick little colored pencil sketch from this morning. I really wish I had more time for this one. This week kind of got away from me. Oh well, enjoy some Mikey enjoying some pizza!
